Maastricht Tour Tip

If you are not shy of crowds, be sure to visit Maastricht during Carnival, a traditional 3-day festival in the southern part of the Netherlands. The festival is somewhere in February/March. The whole city will dress up and party all day and all night.

® in Maastricht:

Maastricht
is the capital of the province Limburg, the most southern part of the Netherlands, bordering both Belgium and Germany. The city is situated on both sides of the river Meuse (or Maas in Dutch).
Maastricht is widely known as a centre of tradition, history and culture. The city is popular for shopping and recreation.
Maastricht can be reached by train from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Hop on the train to Station Maastricht  (Central Train station of Maastricht) where our main tour starts, close to the heart of the city. Just know that the train trip will take up to 3 hours. Another alternative is to rent a car and drive, which will probably take you just as long. But the fortified city is an absolute jewel, and worth a visit.
